I've been working with our family doctor/school board member to get a teacher in-service for mental health awareness and education this past year and now that there has been a recent school shooting in our state.....he says he's going to push harder for this to go through.  I will put more pressure on, too.  It is too important to sweep this program under the rug. Our doctor also offered to come to our house this weekend because he's off and talk to T-Man.  I told him it was very kind of him and I just might take him up on it.  I don't know how effective it will be but it can't hurt. T-Man didn't come home until 2:30 this morning.  I fell asleep on the sofa before he came home so I didn't get a chance to call the police to let them know he was past city curfew.  I am so tired of calling them anyway and they, I'm sure, are tired from hearing from us.   My in-laws are in and my mother-in-law was hoping to get the chance to talk to our son T.  She has it all planned out in her mind what she is going to say.  She told me that she plans on sharing with him about her battle with alcohol.  She is a recovering alcoholic.  She had been one years before I met her.  I hope that she will have some impact on T.  He's extremely difficult to reach --- especially for me.  I am the one that makes things a little more difficult for him to obtain what he "needs".  Been toying with the idea of sending him away to a wilderness type of rehab center.  Unfortunately, the cost is unbelievable.  One facility I looked at costs $80.000 for one year!

At least things are happening that look good... Can\'t do much more, if any more at all, than that!

Caution on the wilderness programs, quality varies widely and they are for all intensive purposes unregulated.

Maybe you could contact a \"press\" friend to talk about your proposal -- may get press in light of the shootings. May tip the \"officials\" off center in terms of making a commitment to something and / or someone! Take Care!

I think it is a good thing that your mother in law is willing to share with her son. It may not mean something right away to him, but someone who understands the \"draw\" or hold that substances have. Later, as he sees a family connection, he may be more open that it\'s got a strong genetic component and he will have to quit.......

This may have already occurred to you, but I wonder how much of your husband\'s experience with his mom is shaping his reaction to your son?

I hope that everyone is safe and well!

Good grief, I am so tired and the comments above show this!! Where is the edit button when you need it?! Obviously, I meant \"your\" son. The 2nd sentence is incomplete.....the idea was that it opens the line of communication with yet another person who has real experience with his situation in life. 3rd sentence, ohh, as my English teacher might have written \"AWK\" (LOL)....you get the idea here .... open to the idea that there is a strong genetic component, he is vulnerable and that it is in his best interests long term to abstain. Hang in there!!!!
