The lawyer's words are still stinging in my ears. He said he can't help us if my son isn't cooperating. He said his services would be a waste of our money. All along I've been focusing on the courts to help us get our son some help. They will help him but it will be much harder for him because of his attitude. T has no idea what is in store for him but he will not listen. I have never talked to a lawyer before on a proffessional level for this kind of thing, and felt a little overwhelmed with all the whole legal court "stuff". I wish my husband talked to him first because when I explained how uncooperative our son is being with everything..... he asked me what my husband is doing about his attitude? He was surprised that my son won't even listen to my husband. I'm not. My husband knows that he's responsible for some of this. Although my son wasn't like this before - to this degree - there were times he did something that required addressing and my husband wouldn't do anything about it. In fact, when I tried to do something about my son's behavior, my dear husband would either override me or not address the situation at all. I would get so mad at my husband for not supporting me and , in turn, he would get mad at me for bugging him about it. He now knows why. Mind you, our oldest......was extremely easy to raise. When we would say no.....he'd listen. He's so grounded and together. He also is very bright and never had any issues ....like ADD or depression. He was born a very happy guy and still is. It makes things easier for him to be happy. Actually - we never had any problems with any of our boys until the last few years. Our second born had depression - making the parenting thing a challenge. But that was a walk in the park compared to what we're dealing with right now.

A lot of marriages feel the strain of parenting a teenager - the past is water under the bridge. The key issue is whether you see eye to eye on your current strategy for your son. If not, consider marriage counseling....the stakes are so high for everyone. From personal experience, when mine entered their teens, I refused to be the \"single parent\" and we went to therapy as a couple. It was very helpful, so much so that I doubt we would still be married if we had not gone. It\'s one thing to remember your own adolescence and quite another to be on the receiving end of your child\'s! I\'m pulling for you!
I was going to ask about how the otehr two boys are doing. Excuse me for being cold, but in this situation it is easy to see that it is NOT a case of \"bad parenting.\" I could almost wish it were.. :o( I don\'t know what you can do if you NEED his cooperation to do anything......
