Wow -  Is this my life?  Do I really have a kid who came home with a black eye, possibly a re-broken nose, bruises, cuts, and a chipped tooth telling us he "fell off his bike?"  Yes - it's our life for now and it's real.  My hubby and I were at a parenting meeting for teens with chemical dependency last night, naturally, we turned off our cell phones while we were in class.  After we both got in our separate cars heading for home after the parent session, I turned on my cell to check for messages.  I had one from our friend, Dave.  My husband received a call, too, and returned the call first.  Dave, the one that our son confided in told us that T-man showed up to his house last night- this time all banged up and bleeding telling him that one of the drug dealers did it.  Note:  I saw his instant messaging on line AND my best friend called (her son got wind of it) and both indicated that the fight was with the other burglary victim.  Naturally, the kid was angry with my son for breaking into his house - they WERE friends.   Anyway, T-Man wasn't bad enough to have to go to the hospital, however.  But he did sit down and tell Dave that he wants out of the drug scene.  He told Dave that he wants to start going to AA with a friend of his.  One of T-Man's friends attends and told him it looks good in court if T-Man participates in this group.   We have an appt. this morning with his potential drug court P.O..  T-Man hasn't been accepted in drug court, yet, but this guy is willing to meet with us to get things rolling ....just in case.  So we will see......

It is not good that he lied to the one person who has empathy for him! I hope he calls him on it - ! Some lessons are harder than others.....getting beat up by a \"friend\" certainly lets him know that what he\'s been doing is not \"cool\" with everyone. Maybe this is what prompted some thoughts about attending AA; hopefully it is not more manipulation as the \"heat\" bears down on him. Well, at least the system is moving -- good to know that someone is trying to be proactive and getting the ball moving before court.....Hope you have a meaningful session with the PO. Take Care!

There is also a program called NA (narcotics annonymous) It deals with all addictions from booze to perscription drugs. It is also a 12 step program.Getting to these meetings ,even if he goes just to help his court case, would be a great 1st step.He will have no choice but to hear the destruction drugs leave in peoples lives. He will also learn skills on how to deal with his addiction.Hopefully he will meet new friends that can help him recover. I feel for you. It is a terrible thing watching your child become yet another victim to drugs. Hang in there!

It\'s a good thing he finally has Dave, whom he trusts. And I think he\'s starting to realize he needs to do something. Good for him. Keep your spirits up and keep thinking positive. It\'ll all work out in the end.
