My husband and I went to a chemical dependency class for parents last night.  Most, if not all, of the information presented was not new to me.  I've been reading and have attended other classes on this subject.  I did, however, learn something "new".  Actually, this information wasn't "new".....it just took awhile for it to sink in.  The instructor/drug counselor told the group that our teen's drug addiction is NOT our fault.  I knew this..... but didn't believe it until last night.  It just took awhile for me to believe it, maybe because she tied it in with the explanation of why some acquire this disease. T-Man has his 2nd assessment tomorrow.  I hope the counselor gets what she needs.  The last assessment appointment she had with him wasn't very productive.   Hoping he will be more forthcoming this time.  I gave her some instant messages I printed out for her to use.....telling him he left some messages up for us to find.  I hope he buys it.  We don't want him to know just yet about all we know.  Today I went and cleaned out our office.  So sad.  This school has been in existence for 57 years.....not that I worked there THAT long but all my children were students there and I taught there for the last 10.  I understand there is a part-time opportunity not far from here but I am not sure I want to do that.  With the way things are with my son......not knowing where he'll be....or what is going to happen...... I don't want to start a new job and then ask for time off if I have to.   Maybe I will wait until the assessment and see what happens.

It must be hard leaving. And you sound like you really enjoyed going there. I\'m sorry. But like you said before, there\'s a reason for everything. Sometimes that reason doesn\'t present itself until you\'re further down the road. Hope the counselor gets what she needs tomorrow.

What about using your skills in a new setting -- substitute teacher? It gives you \"contact with the outside world\", some income, and lets you scope out future employment options without any real commitment.
