I know this is getting old .....me going on about my son. It's just that I worry about him so. This is nothing like we experienced with my middle son who went through depression, even ending up in the hospital. At least when my middle guy was ill --and at his worst---there was help right away. In this case....it just takes so long. At least we know what the hair test sample will be soon. It better be today because this thing has to start moving.... Tomorrow he starts his assessment. The assessment takes 3 visits. Man....no wonder our country has a lingering problem.Well.....I can now add to the checklist of how to tell whether your son is abusing drugs or not. He quit soccer yesterday. :-( He was so talented and it was the only thing that kept him away from his creepy friends for a length of time. It was the only positive thing going for him and now................... Oh....and.....I did read his instant messaging this morning. He snuck out last night and smoked a joint with the creepiest of the creepiest "kids" who picked him up in his car. This "kid" is 19. When I got up this morning, I was wondering why he was sleeping on the couch. Now I know.... The bright side.....my husband and I have all of our ducks lined up to help us and T-Man with this problem. We are fortunate enough to have the guru of drug addiction services to help us. He's going to make some phone calls to help us through this. We want our son to go to drug court, but it has to be court ordered. He and the juvenile detective will support us. And I know the drug test will results will help. Also the drug counselor we will and have been working with is the best. My new friend's son went through this a year ago so she directed me to all the right places. So there is a silver lining. Just wish the lining wouldn't take so long.....

Hey, do not worry about whether it\'s \"getting old\"; a journal is first and foremost for you! You need an option to put it out there, mull it over and maybe later reflect......there aren\'t too many other \"safe\" places for you to \"churn\" what is going on.....Many of us find that we can let it go for a while if we write it down......
So do you know this 19 year old - ? If not, can someone run a background check on him? Do you think it might be relevant to tell the detective about this guy? Would he drop your son like a hot potato if he knew that he was being scrutinized by you or the police? I am not suggesting any kind of direct confrontation - maybe telling your son that his behavior and actions are causing others to scrutinize his relationships?! The other concern is if this guy was ticked off, would you and your family be in any danger? Another reason to look at his background and try to learn a little more about who your son is hanging with ... not to add to the worry you have but it may be better to know what/who is so influential in your sons life?!
Did he quit soccer \"just because\" or was there an incident that you need to check with the coach or another team member about? At least soccer is a life sport, it may be something that he comes back to when he is in a better place - physically and emotionally.
Good to know that you and your husband are on the same page at this point, with resources ready to go. Take Care!
I\'m so sad to hear your son quit soccer! Maybe there is another reason, like Penpal said. At least you\'ll get the results of the hair test back soon. Then at least things can start to move forward. Stay strong....Thinking and praying for you and your son every day!
really sorry to here that hun! its not old thats what we all here for support!!!!!!! least you got a lot in place to help him!
