My mother-in-law is out of the hosptial and is doing fine! Her intestinal problem had to do with surgery she had on it when she was 3 years old! Doctors tell her that this incident she had can happen again...like tomorrow OR never. Such a quirky thing!Things are looking better regarding T-MAN. I read his instant messages and he says he wants to quit drinking and drugs. Not pot....but it's a start. I don't know at this point whether he can or not but, at least, we are seeing that he says he wants to. From what we've been reading lately.....it's certainly great news. My oldest called asking why we haven't sent him a care package to camp. He volunteered for a month to be a camp counselor at a Christian youth camp and was hoping to receive something like all his other friends received. I plan on sending a nice care package this week. His friend's parents, whose son is a volunteer too, will be going to the camp and offered to drop off the package. See what happens? The ones who don't give you any grief....are the forgotten ones. I know I can't go back....but perhaps that is one of the reasons our youngest one "slipped". We were so focused on our middle one for some time (depression) that he wasn't getting the attention he deserved. I know....water over the damn. According to the experts....we are not supposed to me blaming ourselves. How can you not?

It\'s easy to second guess ourselves. Keep in mind that we are actively being the best parents we know how to be....some kids thrive in spite of what we do or run themselves into the ditch no matter what. If T-man had issues before he could have acted out a lot sooner; from what you describe this is his issue and he has full ownership of his substance use.
So, as usual, I am looking for the silver lining or something positive to say. What comes to mind is the fact that your kids have \"taken turns\" needing your undivided attention! (I hope this does not sound flip; this is probably a small consolation given the gravity of what you and he are facing.) Going forward, hang on to the good memories, the lighter moments and go easy on yourself. I hope you and your family have an opportunity to reduce some stress and have fun with soccer -- hopefully it\'s not too hot in your part of the country. Stay well!
you are doing great hun. glad to hear you got some good news!
i agree with penpal about taking turns ! give your self a pat on the back hun, you are getting through this and there is a light at the end of the tunnel! we always forget the good times as bad ones are more prominent, i always think of my kids as when they were babies when they getting to me, it seems to help a little!my adhd is a constant battle at the min so i keep picture him in nappys, makes me smile if nothing else!lol
