How much more can we take?
Our youngest -- I'll call him his nickname.... "T-Man" - has done it again. This kid is up to his eyeballs in drugs. I put a call into the drug counselor my husband and I met with yesterday. We can't wait for an assessment...... He got into mischief yesterday....playing with matches and hand sanitizer at a local park bathroom...causing a small fire. Now he's charged with arson and that is a felony. Now he has 3 charges against him. This CAN'T be happening. He also left his instant messaging up and said to one of his friends that he can't stop taking drugs.....no matter how hard he tries. He loves girls (like most 16 yr. old boys) and said that if he had a choice between the drugs or the girls...........drugs.....hands down! I am waiting for the counselor to call. The system takes way too long..... we must figure out what to do.....
On top of all this.....we received a call that my dear mother-in-law was rushed to the hospital with a bowel obstruction of some sort. We don't have any more information. My poor father-in-law too....
I probably shouldn't even be journaling this.......I am just.......I just don't know....

OMG! You are right, ths system does take toooo long! I wish I could help you with more than just words, which are also inadequate! At least you know for sure, via the text message. Please know at least that my thoughts are with you and I think it is good to write it in your journal!

This is HEART-BREAKING news! However, you have REAL information, he is alive, and he has parents who have resources to help him -- this is HUGE. Do not wait on the system (it may not have adequate or timely resources), check him into the nearest facility; find out what facility your pediatrician recommends for kids at imminent risk. Once he\'s out of harms way, find a lawyer who specializes in youth with mental health/addiction issues. It may matter, for example, that he was high when he lit the sanitizer.....Put your professional and personal network to use to find the best!
One of my parents recently had a bowel obstruction; good to be in the hospital. They can give pain medication and monitor the \"belly\". Once they have the CT scan, and rule out a growth or twist, they will try to let nature take it\'s course (works 80%) of the time. I hope this is the case for your family member.....
In the meantime, feel free to chat or email to vent; I wish I could do more! My thoughts are with you and your family. Take Care!!!
