I have a little time this morning before I leave to go to a meeting downtown with my friend.  She's on the board of this type of rehad center.  Her son, then 16, attended this inpatient rehad center a few years back and has been clean ever since.  I will actually meet the director I spoke on the phone about my son.  I have no idea what the format of this meeting is and what exactly they're going to talk about (well....I have some idea) so I guess I will find out. My oldest left at 1:30 AM - driving all night - for a Christian youth camp to volunteer for a month!  I really, really didn't want him to go.  He has been my solid rock and so wonderful to have around.  I really felt uncomfortable with the all night drive but he assured me that there were four who would take turns.  That is what prayer is about.  I'm gonna have to say some extra, not only for him, but for my other two.  Last night my phone rang.  It was my second born's phone.  He refuses to get a flip phone, which is a pain, because it frequently goes off when he's out and I'm in bed, waking me up.  He has no idea that this happening when it does.  Last night I heard part of his conversation and I must tell you.....I am NOT pleased.  This kid is on 150mg of Zoloft.  He finally got at a good place and now he's drinking!  I suspected it because of rumors but this time I heard it directly from the horse's mouth.  Are we having fun yet?

OH NO! Could it be good news bad news? Good news is that he is feeling better and thinks he can mix the two. Bad news is that he has a degree of denial/rebellion about his depression and is acting out in a counter productive way(s)...... From personal experience with my brother, the advice we had was that there are typically 2 serious lapses before the diagnosis is accepted and medication is taken regularly; maybe this is part of the typical behavior on the way to being stable?! My only suggestion is to let the prescribing psychiatrist know about it. I hope the oldest has made it safely to camp - and that the meeting with the rehab associate went well. Be good to yourself!
