Drove down to get my oldest from college yesterday. It's great having him home but......I forgot what comes with him......all the junk! He's a pack rat and this "pack rat" has all his things all over the floor in our foyer and living room and won't get to it anytime soon because he's going to an amusement park early today...oh well. He made plans with his friends on the way home to go out right when he came home and said he'd take care of it later. He and his friends ended up going out for ice cream and then back to our house. They had to step over all the mess when they arrived. My son then presented a "slide show" (on his computer) of his trip to Haiti. He volunteered down there about a month ago and had some interesting stories to tell. He actually helped out in the health clinic....(which is only open once a mth for a few days). It was very, very sad to hear some of the stories. Some of his stories were comical and interesting. He said, however, that the people were very nice and very polite..... He said they dressed up to go to the clinic (in their Sunday best) to wait in line for hours to be treated. The volunteers (doctors, nurses, specialists and kids like my son) served about 1500 in a few days. And we think our health system stinks! Makes one appreciate what they have when you see and learn how others live. Well.........I have to get the crow bar out to pry my second born out of "bed" (his "bed" has been our sofa in the family rm) and get him going to start his first day of work. Wish me luck!
