Just got a call from Haiti! My son called. He's such a nice person. He's so giving and caring. Had a wonderful conversation with him. He said the children there, when my son steps outdoors, cling on to him ...calling out blond, blond. They speak Creole. He tried to converse with them with the French he knows but it isn't working. He's still helping out in the clinic taking temps and pulses. And says it is hotter than........
Said he still can't get over the people...living in shacks...with cell phones. They buy the phones for $25 and also buy calling cards. Some company, I guess, set them up. They can received in coming calls for free, too. My son said, if they can't afford to make any calls, the phones are set up so the person can leave a beep message and then the person receiving it....can call them back. The person then doesn't have to pay since in coming calls are free. Wonderful of the company responsible to do something like that. My son said this whole cell phone explosion just happened within the last year or so. Pretty interesting.

BTW, about the cell phones: I think it is cheaper in the Czech Republic to have a cell phone rather than a land line. It is probably like that other places, too..

And the cell phones and shacks? That\'s crazy. It could be a Cingular commercial!
