Received a call from a friend of a friend asking me if I had any advice as to how to help her friend. I don't know what advice to give because I need to find out what the laws is on this, yet, before I can offer anything. The friend's friend son is 18, & he's depressed. He was receiving treatment--counseling and meds, but refuses to do either now. His mom can't get him off the couch and he won't go to school. My son, less than a year ago, when being treated by our family doctor for depression, was very depressed and wouldn't get off the couch. Didn't bother calling our doctor, just hired an ambulance, and had him transported to the hospital of our choice. I didn't even realize how bad he really was until the doctor at the hospital told us he had to be admitted. Thankfully I took him in. I had lots of support, however, my son was only 16, and I had a husband to help. This mom is currently going through a divorce, has a new job as a night shift nurse, has a son who is struggling and doesn't know if she can legally receive any help. I will have to wait until tomorrow before I can get any information to help her. I feel for her and her son.

Yikes. That poor mother (and kid). I hope she\'s able to get help for him soon!
