The majority of the kids were great at the party my son had. There were a few who were questionable. Actually, more than questionable, after talking to my son. After the party, my son told me, that there were some he didn't know that went into our laundry room and were dealing and drinking. I don't know why he didn't say anything to me at the time. I asked some of his friends, earlier, to keep an eye out and let me know if anything was going on that shouldn't have been. It was stupid of me not to go into the basement myself to check things out. We've never had that problem before. From what I understand now, I could have gotten into a lot of trouble having this in my home, even if I was not aware of it. I think I will have to reevaluate the "open" invite situation. Apparently, my youngest said that there was a very tall boy that took it upon himself to "kick the kids" out that were "misbehaving." I feel like a jerk. Oh....and then the police did show up because a neighbor complained about the noise. Perhaps it was some kids outside who were talking too loud. There weren't many out there at any given time because it was too cold out.

I ended up going out to greet the police, when I saw them pull up and from where we were standing, I couldn't hear anything and neither could they. I told them it was a good excuse to end it anyway. It was almost 11PM. So...I cleared everyone out but the close friends out and minutes later my husband pulls in the driveway. He was gone the entire time, expecting however, to see all the kids. Fortunately, one of the kids' moms offered to stay with me for awhile during the party and I took her up on it. She was great. Her oldest daughter went to a party a few years ago, which is why she offered to stay (remember hearing about this party) and unbenowst to the parents, who were hostessing it, there were kids at the party with "water" in their clear water bottles. Police were called and the parents got into a lot of trouble. I was lucky. No one appeared to be drunk or stoned at the party last night but I now know for sure something was going on.

I must note, the majority of the kids were awesome! So polite! Many of them thanked me for hostessing it. And there were some I didn't even know, came up to me and introduced themselves. I guess that is why I do it. We just have to "tweak" things a bit the next time we have it. My son is going to have to take on more responsibility with the future parties, and we all have to be a little more proactive so we can all enjoy without having to worry.

Kids.....ya gotta love 'em!

Sounds like a pretty good party and the tweaking will make the next one even better...but that is so lame about someone complaining...the kids have to have a little bit of fun in life too!! Love to hear all your stories...brings me back to when my kids were that age...it was so fun!! Love you!!
