Things are good. Had a great weekend. Nothing special but it was relaxing. We (my husband and I) did play two soccer games...one Friday night and one Saturday night. We had such a blast. I am getting lots of compliments on my playing, I might add! We won Friday..

Friday night, before our 10:30pm game, we went to a party. It can be a bummer leaving a party for a soccer game sometimes, but it's better than eating and drinking more. Helps me to keep things "in check" during the parties because I know I have to play anyway! People think we are nuts! We are!

The party we went to was to thank all the people who worked on the school levy this past fall. It passed with flying colors, I might add. My husband was responsible for the advertising portion and did a great job! It was interesting group of people. The first fellow we saw when we entered the house was the school superintendent. I imagine he felt a bit uncomfortable around us, considering how he handled our son's situation at the school. Poorly, in fact. We found out from our family doctor (who is on the school board)and was also at the party, that my son's incident that happened back in August, was brought before the school board because the were questioning the way they handled things. They were surprised we didn't sue. And they were surprised that my husband continued to work on the school levy! That was very interesting to hear that. I am surprised our doctor shared that with us. He was so candid with us. Perhaps it was the beer? I don't think so, way too early in the evening! All I know is that I was glad he told us. He doesn't know the whole story (I really don't know how much he knows) but he did have to excuse himself because of conflicting interests. **He also was very glad to hear that I am working on getting some education to the school ...students and teachers about mental health awareness. He also shared that his daughter (my oldest son's age) had severe depression also. Anyway, I have one speaker scheduled to come in February to speak to students and parents. And then the other, I'm currently working on getting a particular psychiatrist to speak to the teachers on this subject during their in-service hours time. I've been hounding the principal to get a date. I am driving him crazy, but if I don't ...it won't get done. I hope he moves on if fast!

The other person that was at the party was my oldest son's former girlfriend's parents. I like them. Their daughter broke my son's heart but he is fine now. Her mom shared with my husband that their daughter was suffering from depression also! And so it goes...now I am hearing more and more about people I know suffering from depression and STILL the school is having a difficult time dealing with this. My son's teacher, last spring, when he was so bad and recently released from the hospital, that if "chooses to not participate the entire 90 minutes of class, she said she wouldn't help him". She said receiving help from her is a privilege, and if he doesn't do her part, she won't do hers. And that is why I am so compelled to get some help at the school. I really hope I can get this particular speaker. We need to raise funds for her. My husband and I offered to get the money to "sweeten the pot" so money wouldn't be what would hold them back. I hope to hear from the principal soon. I am going to see him tomorrow night. There is a information parent night and then I hope to ask him in person what came of the meeting he went to about this speaker.

wow..number one...OMG...how FUN to still be playing soccer!!!... and it\'s great to hear you\'re still working with the school! It\'s funny with any illness that touches your life when you start talking about it with others you realize there are so many that deal with the same issues! As always...I will continue to pray for your family!
