yeah! Decided we didn't need the grief. Called the school and told them we don't need one of the teachers in on the meeting. I am still going to complain about the situation, but not until AFTER the I.E.P meeting. Our son was struggling in BASIC computers, no less (loves the computer), and was caught cheating for the 2nd time in a week in that class. The consquence was an F for the course. I was so upset with the teacher and assistant principal (he's slap happy with handing out punishments --heard many stories) for not informing us about the first offense. We could have, at least, come up with a game plan. We know (she didn't have to tell us) that our son was responsible for his actions, but she bares no responsibility for not informing us and seeing what it was that caused our son to fall so far behind? I guess I am glad the principal knows. I doubt he will do anything about the lack of follow through on her part (they stick together) but...at least....I know that he knows.

We (my husband and I) were having some issues about how the school was helping him across the board. I have been putting a lot of pressure on them to make sure they were following through on their I.E.P. He tests in the superior range on the school evaluation, yet is doing poorly in school despite all the accommodations. Just started Concerta, however. I think it's working, to some degree, because he just received his first A all quarter and it was a midterm, no less! All the other grades he had in math were D's and F's. I think putting pressure on the staff really helped, too! I just hope this keeps up! My son has started to take some responsibility, and with the Concerta, and the support, he is FINALLY seeing some success! So we finally have a very happy day, for once! It's been too long.
