Why does this have to be so hard? Now that my middle son seems to be squared away, my other one is having a difficult time. Actually, he has all along, I just can't handle both of them at the same time. Oh, I feel for my youngest one. He is such a great kid. He is bright, school testing verifies that, yet....he is struggling in school. He does have some learning disabilities and has mild ADD, yet even with all this "so called" help, he still is having a hard time. School is frustrating me. They don't seem to know what to do with kids who struggle. I know I am my son's advocate, yet I think I am failing him, too. I read his I.E.P, it says that one of his strengths is math, testing above average, and somehow he is failing it. I take him to a very good private tutor (one hr. session a wk, sometimes he has some tutoring in school, but right now I am at the end of my rope, because nothing is helping. The attitude of the math teacher makes me want to scream. Very snippy. She should retire. Seems put out by any of my requests. I know she thinks that I am doing all the work and my son isn't carrying his load, which is a part of it. He's inconsistent. Sometimes he's on top of things, sometimes not. I know it's the nature of the beast (ADD) but there isn't anything I can do about that. I can't tell if he is taking advantage of the situation, knowing now that he has ADD and blaming it on the ADD or not. Maybe a little of both. Ask him everyday if he has hmwk and he says he does it in school, when he hadn't this past week. Started him on Concerta, says it's helping, but he says it isn't strong enough. Might have to look into that.

You are not failing him...you are a good mother! Is there another math class and teacher he can switch to? It seems like she isn\'t understanding his problems. And I know he\'s not taking advantage of the situation because of his ADD...it\'s just how our brains work...I know he\'d like to have perfect grades. I will pray for your family but please don\'t ever doubt yourself...you\'re doing a great job!!
Hang in there Mom, parenting is one of the hardest jobs we face as mothers. You are doing all you can for your children and being their biggest supporter. I know we always want to make everything ok for our kids and it can be very discouraging when we feel our efforts are not enough, but you are doing a good job and I will pray for you and your kids.
