I'm glad my husband and I chose not to go to the last high school football game. The weather was very, very ugly...cold, rainy, and messy. Actually, I wasn't planning on going to the game because of all the terrible stuff that went on with my middle son, involving band this past fall. He can't seem to escape the events and move on. Although my son deserved some of the consequences he received, he didn't deserve to be treated like a hardened criminal. The band teacher, in his defense, is new and inexperienced, but it still doesn't make it any easier. My husband, God love him, was going to the game to support our younger son, who plays the clarinet in the band. He chose not to,however, mainly because of the weather, and the fact our indoor soccer team's game was moved up to an earlier time.

Speaking of soccer......I scored an awesome goal AND that put us ahead (temporarily)! Top right corner, no less! What a way to impress our new team! Now I am in trouble, however, because they are going to expect this all the time!

I am still so relieved that the meeting went well with the principal. One of my issues was about my younger son's teacher. My son joined her class (basic computers) a week late because I pulled him out of another class that I didn't think was a good fit for him. So he started out in this class, behind. He has an I.E.P, and a recent diagnoses of ADD. I e-mailed her (all contact was initiated by me) asking how he was doing, asking her to give him extra help (especially with organizing his material), and to involve his tutor. I don't think she did much of anything and I also know that she did not (like she said she did) contact his tutor (because I asked the tutor). Well, because he was behind, (and I'm not making excuses), he cheated to try and catch up. He was caught and served a in school suspension. I didn't know about that incident until it was too late. She told me she didn't contact me because she felt he was remorseful and said he wouldn't do it again. He did, the same week. Now he receives an automatic F for the course. She said she felt very bad about it, because she likes him and knows he's been trying. Again, I am NOT making excuses....but I am so frustrated because I've been asking and asking for her to help him and I really don't think she did enough. I am so upset, also, because she didn't even notify me about the second offense. I only found out because, AGAIN, I e-mailed her to find out how he was doing. She responded with..."Oh, I was going to call you...... The principal said he would check into it. In my experience, they have ALWAYS supported the teacher, so I am not going to get my hopes up too high. What a year....
