Ah, for the days of drugs, drugs, and more drugs. Ah, for the days of "Sure, I've got that co-pay for the expensive prescription drug". Being out of work changes all that. You knew that, right? Well, I've been using the county health system for my care and they're great about prescribing the cheapest drugs they can. And Walmart is their pharmacy of choice. It's never been mine. I've always liked Walgreen's. There is one pretty close on my way to work and my house. And they're open 24 hours a day. Which was great since my work schedule changed at the drop of a hat and I would get off from work any time from midnight to 4AM to 7AM. The nearest Walmart is 3 times further from my house, not even close to my way to work, and closes at the latest 10PM and opens at 8AM. So, after making so many trips to Walmart, I decided to check out the drug program at Walgreen's thinking they would be competitive. I was so wrong! First you have to enroll for $20 for a single or $35 for a family for a year. But, that's the least of the difference. Their generics, like metformin, and the other drugs I take start at $9.95 with a 3 month supply for $12. Walmart's 3 month price is $10 which isn't that much difference except for that little $20 a year thing. So, it looks like I'll be making those trips to Walmart.
