Family
As most of you know, I fell at work a week ago, Thursday, apparently from dehydration caused by 2 days of diarrhea. Caused quite a commotion. Ended up in the E.R.. Diagnosed as gastroenteritis, I missed work that Friday and when it was no better Monday, went to my doctor who told me it was a bacterial infection. Was put on antibiotics, and not allowed to return to work till Wednesday. Guess that why they call it a medical PRACTICE. On my way out on the stretcher, a woman, team leader, gave me her phone number and told me to call her when I was through in the E.R. and she would pick me up and take me back to my car at work in the small town outside of Waco. While in the E.R., I noticed I had a scarf. Didn't know where it came from. Wasn't mine. When I got back to work Wednesday, a guy asked about the scarf. It was his and he had put it around my neck while I was on the stretcher since it was a cold day. When I returned to work, I realized I had a new family,,a work family. So many came up to me and asked how I was doing and others patted me on the shoulder as they passed by my work station. I didn't realize how the sickness affected me till I got back to work and my brain seemed to be a little fuzzy and confused. On Thursday,I got tired out and needed an extra break that the floor leader readily approved. Everyone seemed genuinely concerned for me. Guess you never know how people feel about you till there's a crisis. So now, I have a new family and it feels great to know your co-workers care.
