Trivial.  Do you ever think about trivial things?  Things that won't have a big impact on your life or the rest of the world?  Well, this morning as I was paying my bills and figuring my income tax, I thought about something trivial. Return address labels.  You know, those little stickers with your name and return address on them that allows you not to write in in the upper left hand corner of an envelope?  I've been wanting to buy some for years.  If you knew my last name, you'd know that it's hard to put it in the small space allowed by most organizations.  So, a few months ago, I saw an ad in a circular and ordered some.  500 in fact.  That should last me the rest of my life provided I don't move.  I even typed out the address on a separate piece of paper since my handwriting is so bad and the space provided by the vendor was so small.  They were cheap.  Less than six dollars.  Well, before they could come in, my insurance agent sent me a sheet as a gift around Thanksgiving.  Nice little Thanksgiving pictures on them.  Maybe 50-100 of them.  Nice gesture.  That's, probably, more than a year's supply.  Got the labels I ordered.  Just plain black and white so they're easily read.  The last couple of weeks I've recieved labels from a couple of charities.  They're nice with little pictures about their charity.  That makes at least a hundred more.  I'll use them when the insurance ones run out.  I used to feel guilty using them because I didn't send any money to the charity.  But, then I realized I didn't ask them to send them to me.  Should I send them back and say "No thanks"?  Should I throw them away?  No, I'll use them.  It would be a waste not to.  Don't know if I'll ever get to use the ones I bought, but they're there if I ever run out.  I'm really big on trivia.  Even have a couple of trivia dictionaries.  In my days of being a radio D.J. I was big on trivia.  Used it on my programs and it just just stuck with me.  Uselss stuff, like how many restrooms are on the official plans of the "Enterprise" from the original "Star Trek".  The answer is zero.  Guess the guys just forgot that in the future bodily functions would still need to be taken care off.  At a Trekkie convention, James Doohan, "Scotty" was asked about the lack of restrooms and how they did without them.  He told them, they would find a corner, do their thing, and shoot it with a phaser.  While I was graveyard manager at Sambo's, I would swap trivia with a couple of former D.J.'s that would come in.  One of my cooks used to listen to us and, apparently, got a little uptight that I knew so much.  So, one night he came up to me and asked me 10 trivia questions.  Really outlandish stuff and I answered 9 out of the 10.  That really got to him and asked how I could remember stuff like that.  I told him about being a D.J. and how it was my job to know stuff like that.  Then I asked him where he got the questions.  He had bought a trivia disctionary!  Well, I bought the dictionary and found another a few years later.  I'm always on the lookout for trivia.  It adds a little joy to my life.  Something I can think about to keep my mind going during the dull times.  I can remember songs from my childhood and the artists that sang them.  I'm no expert, but they're good memories.  I'm an old television nut.  Love the old shows of the golden age of television.  Even got a dictionary on that.  Has the shows, the stars, etc.  While I was going to technical school when I was in my 40's, some kids were playing Trivial Pursuit.  They challenged me and another older guy to play as a team.  We beat the fool out of them.  They couldn't figure out how we did it.  We told them that we had lived the questions in the game.  It wasn't trivia.  It was our history.  Well, I guess since I've been writing about trivia here, it must be pretty calm around my house.  It is.  Still in my shorts and t-shirt, but it's supposed to get colder tonight.  Just got a few things to do today,,,make the tea concentrate, and the tuna salad.  Actually folded the laundry yesterday!  Just a thought.  When things get a little too much for you, think of something trivial.  Or when things are a little slow, think of something trivial.  Trivial things are a part of our lives and shouldn't be negelcted.  It helps us put things in perspective.  Yall, have a good one.
