Some of my co-workers are afraid of me. This MRSA scare has got them nervous about me. I've never made my problem with MRSA a secret. Everyone who was working in the station when I had it knew about it. These new co-workers weren't there then and they're scared. My boss came to me tonight to ask me about it. I don't blame them. We've had an outbreak in our area. I told him I was not contagious. I'm a carrier and will be for the rest of my life. I'm extra careful, washing my hands many times a day. I can only give it to someone if it flairs up again and I touch someone with an open sore on me to an open sore on them. I offered to get a note from my doctor if that would help. He said he didn't need it. I told him if I develope symptoms, he would be the first to know and I wouldn't come into work. We work in a confined area and are very close to each other. MRSA is very serious and worse, now than when I had it. Back then, it affected the body and heart. Now, it's getting into the lungs and liver. My legs, where I had it, have never fully recovered. They are still weak from the infection. Be extra careful. Diabetics are one of the most at risk people. Me, diabetes, plus my heart problem and COPD, make me a triple risk. I don't ever want to have MRSA again. It's too painfull and it takes a lot of you. On a happier note, my personal problems are slowly being resolved and I'm feeling better. So take care and beware.
