Dear DS sisters
It has been a long time since I have writer. Did feel I had so much to share. Since it is the end of the year, I thought I would write to wish you all a happy healthy New Year.
This year I found a new business. I am a mobile notary. That is a go to people’s homes for closings on their refinance loans. It is an up and down business, of course a lot of it depending on the rates, which right now are very low. The month of December was a very busy one for me. I enjoyed being busy. I get paid per job. Pay is pretty good for what you do.
Christmas. Okay, I will start with the fact that Frank and I were invited to Sara’s newly married brother and SIL house. Okay fine. What is for dinner? Deer meat chili. What! We’re eating Rudolf for dinner? Oh well. I guess we will have to grin and bare it. As it turned out it was very good. Just not my idea of a Christmas dinner. There are young people and I think it was just a thing of going against tradition. Hmm give me tradition any day.
Christmas Eve. Christian was in a little choir thing at their church. So of course Frank and I went. So cute, but I didn’t really see him. It was so crowded. So I went to see him in the vestibule when they filed out, to tell how good he was. First thing he said was “Grandma, CK (the cat) bit me on the ear”. His ear was all red and swollen. After the service they went to Sara’s parents. Her Mother talked them into taking him to the emergency room, which they did. Got him on some antibiotics and he is fine. They didn’t get home till 1:00am. Then my son had to put all the toys together. Didn’t get to bed till 4:00am. Welcome to parenthood. I am sure his Dad will get a kick out of that. Pay back are hell. He was very tired Christmas Day.
I had some very sad news Christmas evening. A favorite Uncle of mine passed away. I knew on Christmas ever that he had had a stroke, but everyone thought he would bounce back, but no such luck. He passed away at 12:30am Christmas morning. Of course I could not go it was in NJ. Besides the expense, as you all know there was a terrible blizzard up there. As a matter of fact they had to postpone the viewing and the funeral by a day. The viewing was yesterday and the Funeral today. Very, very sad. I will miss him terribly. I am glad at least I did see him the last time I was in NJ.
On a happier note, I had my 6 month check up on Dec 21st. Now I usually get the results the next day, but they were having some technical difficulties at the lab in the hospital to they had to send all the tests out. I was told to call Weds. The 29th. Called, and called and left I don’t how many messages. Very frustrating. Well I finally got the results today. 4.5. It went up 2 points, but not to worry. I was very worried this time, because I have been having what I thought were symptoms. Nausea and some shortness of breathe. Now I realize that it was probably just nerves. The thing is the longer I am in remission the more scared I get. It is like waiting for the other shoe to drop. Although I guess I should just relax and enjoy, At least for the next 6 month.
One more thing. The last two times I went for my check ups it was not my regular Dr. It was Dr. Freeman, who I am told now sees all the maintenance patients, and Dr. Ramondetta sees only new patients and the ones that are on chemo. Well the reason I renewed my gold card and went on to Well Care for my Medicare was so I could still see Dr. Ramondetta. Well I spoke to the nurse today about that and she said to call her to make my next appointment and she will get me in to see her. Whheewww. I am so happy. I don’t like Dr. Freeman. He is not as thorough. And besides I have been seeing Dr. Ramondetta for the last three years. She knows me.

The results are fantastic.. first read about them on facebook and thought what a wonderful way to start the new year.. Eating reindeer for Christmas is a step too far from tradition.. I think.. but then I am a vegie.. Love and hugs to you.. xxx

Dear Anita! So happy to hear from you. You are right that you rarely write in your journal and it\'s so nice to read about what is going on in your life. And I think you have a lot going on! First of all, I\'m so happy that your results were so exceptional! Congratulations! You are definitely in remission and it appears you are there to stay! I\'m thrilled you will get to see the oncologist you like . . . that means so much to have confidence in your doctor.
I agree with you on having venison at Christmas seems odd, but so many young people want to escape from tradition. My sister even served lasagna this Christmas, saying everyone was tired of the turkey, ham, and dressing, etc.
I am so sorry about your uncle, and was especially sad for you that you were unable to attend the services, but as you said it would be impossible. Several of my friends had major losses on Christmas this year. One of my best friend\'s father died Christmas Day, and a childhood friend lost her daughter on Christmas Eve to an unexpected brain aneurysm. It was such a shock, and then two days later, her son died of overdose, which they deemed a suicide. These were her only two children. I don\'t know how she will get through it. I sure been praying for her.
I\'m glad your grandson\'s cat bite wasn\'t more severe. And I\'m really glad to hear your business was busy in December. I hope you will continue to succeed in 2011! Susan- coming from an Italian-American family Lasagna was one of our staples at the Holidays. We would have everything else also. Be it Turkey or Ham and all the fixings, but there always would be something Italian. We would literally have from soup to nuts, and eat all day long. Miss the old days.
