Well I got my final decision today from Cobra. They denied me since I could not get the PO to say it was their fault my payment did not get post marked on the 31st. I signed up for a what amounts to is a discount program. It should help a little. My concentration is going to be now to find a job with benifits, however I have a pre-existing condition and wouldn't be covered if my cancer should return within a year. I know this seems bazar to my friends in GBR and Can. It is a disgrace and an embarressment for me. Don't get me wrong, I love this country but this is something that is terribly wrong. Also getting fired the way I did. They really threw me under the bus. Then Cobra kicked me when I was down. I will bounce back from all of this. I am a strong person. I raised two kids by myself with no child support. They both turned out to be good people and productive citizens. I am trying to think of this as just another bump in the road. A big one, but still a bump. Thanks to all of you for your frienship and support. Hopefully my next journal will be on a happier note.

You have the best attitude and outlook, you are definitely and inspiration to us all...
You hit a big crater in the road but your strength is incredible. A dear friend of mine had just about the same thing happen to her. She worked for Apple Computers. She got lawyers and it just cost her loads. Our system is broken and I\'m afraid that even with new blood in office as president things will remain the same until our elected officials have to pay for health care. They have everything handed to them forever no matter how many years they are in office. Maybe you should run for senate. Then we would see some changes. I actually thought about doing something like that. Not for the free ride but to make changes. You keep up the positive attitude and the right job will come your way. Have you watched \"The Secret\" yet. Warm hugs to you...Beth
I get the certain idea that American citizens have been fed so much nonsense about how other countries view their social care systems and the taxes they pay to support them.. when asked, in surveys, if people would pay extra tax to improve health and education. the overwhelming answer was yes.. We are all winners here in the health lottery. Even those who use private health are willing to pay so that others don\'t have to go through what you guys have to put up with..
Our politicians have to serve the needs of us Brits.. or they would be trashed from every corner of our society.. I now understand why American politicians always seem so arrogant and complacent.. They keep people down by causing them to be constantly anxious about fundamental issues.. It\'s a form of control which crushes revolt.. and allows self seeking individuals to milk the struggling public dry..
Anita.. you are dealing with this with an amazing spirit.. have you considered jobs in health care reform... If you ever want or need to move to England then I will do all I can to help.. Love and hugs xxxxxx
No not Health Care Reform, but I did apply for a jog with UnitedHealthcare, which is the Ins. co that dropped me. I figured if I can\'t beat them, join them. But I haven\'t heard from them. I have no experience in the field. Health Care Reform. I don\'t know what type of jobs would be available here in Houston. I will search around.
You have personal experience of issues facing so many others around you, which I know counts for a great deal in this field.. advocate springs to mind.. perhaps charities that are there to help with the consequences of lack of health care.. After my first joust with cancer I did some volunteer work with the homeless as this was an issue close to my heart and that led to one job and then to another.. which I enjoyed until recently.. I found that volunteering was a great way to get me into places that interested me as well as helping me to get used to the world of work again.. xxxxxx
That is terrible what they are doing to you!! Our system of healthcare is so messed up in this country. Did you sue your employeer over being fired? Mady did and won. Well good luck to you. - Julie
I am so angry by your treatment from the employer and the insurance . How one of the worlds richest country can let their own citizens deny lifesaving healthcare i do not understand .
May God give you strengh to fight this and come out a winner .
