Good Morning,I hate to use this as a form to vent but anyway here goes.  Besides losing my job, I now found out that I do not have health insurance.  Cobra cancelled me because my payment was late.  For those of you in other countries who may not know what Cobra is, it is an extension of your company benifits that you pay for yourself.  I also found out that my last two chemo treatments were not covered.  Now some how or another I have to pay for them.  I have heard that the American Cancer Society can sometimes help a little in some cases.  I will be checking into that.  I am also checking out some alternitive Medical Plans that I can afford.  If anyone has any suggestions, I sure would appreciate it.  Something needs to be done in this country about Health Care.  Nobody seems to want socialized medicine, but there has to be some solution.  The way it is now the doctors and drug companies are making a gazillion dollors and people like me are made to suffer for it.  I am hoping that whoever our next president is, that he/she will make this a priority.Sorry about the sounding off, but I know you will understand.

Don\'t apologize for speaking up... I get so furious when I hear of some of the things that happen to my friends across the pond..it\'s just unbelievable to me.. barbaric.. inhumane... backward and uncivilized.. With so much wealth America can\'t ever take care of it\'s very own sick and struggling people... shame on you America.. Who doesn\'t want social medicine... and why not? Does anyone think they can find any real happiness in life knowing that there are those in your communities that can not afford to treat their illnesses... How do you go to sleep at night knowing that there is such needless suffering beyond your front doors... I don\'t believe I could.. In England we pay taxes so that no-one goes without the best possible medical care with no costs at the point of service... totally free to those that don\'t work or pay taxes.. and already paid for by those that do.. Doesn\'t matter whether you have an accident.. cancer... heart disease or just fall over blind drunk... you can get the treatment you need... and everyone can breathe easier and sleep better knowing that.. So many Brits take the NHS for granted here.. and knock it all they can.. because so many Brits are miserable winging b------s... but I don\'t believe that anyone in this country has not had a loved one\'s life saved.. or their own because of it... with no extra worries or charges when you least need them... Oooh you have me going here...

I am so pleased that you managed to have all of your chemo before this happened... and really that is all that matters here... I will be very interested in hearing how you deal with this.. Cancer charities here don\'t pay for medical care.. they don\'t have to.. they can help with stuff like holidays... heating bills... t.v licenses.. extra comforts and necessities to help folk to get better.. I would like to see then try to get the chemo back from you... surely it was their mistake and you shouldn\'t have to pay... These are all trials that you really don\'t need at the moment... and now I am extra pleased that you are not rushing back to work as well.. so that you can muster the energy to sort this out without wearing yourself down even more.. I truly believe that you have Angels guiding your progress here.. Please don\'t lose heart... because none of this matters a hoot compared to your health and continued recovery.. See the good in it and don\'t let it pull you down... Loads of love and comforting hugs to you... this will all work out... worrying won\'t help one bit.. xxxxxx

Thanks Inka. I agree. I mean I love this country, but this Health Care thing is a HUGE problem. I am not sure which candidate has the best solution. They all talk the talk but can they walk the walk. Hilary tried very hard when her husband was Pesident, so maybe she can get something accomplished if she is elected. I dunno. I may have to find a job right away so I can get benifits. However if you are not covered for 60 days you have to deal with the fact that you have a pre-existing condition and they won\'t cover you for that for usually a year. They tell me they cancelled me as of 12/01. I feel like I am up the creek without a paddle.

That really sucks that you lost your insurance. Isn\'t bad enough that you lost your job. I\'m with Inka that this is all inhumane and uncivilized. Our great country has lost its way. Keep your health as your first priority right now. The medical bills don\'t matter as much as you do. Loads of hugs to you....Beth

Anita, I\'m so upset that you lost your insurance - doesn\'t Cobra have some kind of \"grace period\" during which you have to pay? This sounds just ... not right. I hope you find some alternatives for health care and and glad for your sake you got your chemo in before the job/insurance thing happened. This is so unfair! Hang in there, something better is in store for you. Hugs and prayers to you, LuEllen

I don\'t know, but I would think that under the circumstances that COBRA would be willing to help you out. Not just leave you with a heap of unpaid medical bills. For one late payment? There is something wrong here.
