Well, this is my 1st entry, so i guess I'll start at the beginning. One day toward the end of April 2011, I made myself  a Chicken Ceaser Salad and I couldn't chew. My teeth would not come together. I went to the doctor and they said go see a dentist. 2 weeks go by and my voice started going out. No one could understand me and I also notice that my right eye was lower than usual. Then all of a sudden I was short of breath just from taking the garbage out.  So i got on the internet and started researching symptoms and everything pointed to stroke. So i went to the Emergency room.  They ran all kind of test mri, cat scan, blood work (I dont remember all of them)  I was eventually admitted and my breathing got worse. A Neurologist eventually told me she think I may have Myasthenia Gravis. Well more test and I was told I did have Myasthenia. I was immediately put on Prednisone and Mestinon. It helped a little but my breathing was still a major problem So I was given IVIG and it helped and i was able to go home.  My Neurologist put me on peednisone and mestinon and weekly treatments of IVIG. by September the prednisone was lowered and the IVIG stopped. everything was going swell,  I had atleast 5 to 6 good days. So i had thyectomy in Oct 2011 in hope of having 7 good days and no medicine.    But everything turned bad after surgery.  My symptoms came back with a vengence.  I was hodpitalized 3 time, had to have a feeding tube while in ICU. I was put back on prednisone and started IVIG again, i never stopped tsking the mestinon but was given a higher dose.  I am curently done with prednisone but have a new drug IMURAN, I've been curently on it since August and taking IVIG for 3 consecutive days once a month.  I just finished Ivig on Friday and I'm still feeling awful. IVIG helps a lot but I have about 4 bad days after its over but its worth it because i now have atleast 3 to 4 days out of the week, which is better than having none.

Hi Raquel,
Your story reminds us how difficult it is to figure out how to treat MG. Sorry your road has been so hard, and hope it will get better soon. This discussion group is a good place for support and advice. Many many of us can read your story and understand it completely, having gone through part of all of the same path you are going through.
Good Luck!
