My son got up at 4am this morning and of coarse he won't go back to bed. He got into the chocolate milk so I put it in my bedroom. I have to do this with sweets because he immediately gets into them. He has no respect for rules or authority. We punish him all the time for misbehaving and he just never learns! We have explained this to him but he still does what he wants. He is on medication that helps and I've read books on the subject. We just can't get him to remember to obey rules.

Yes it is a constant uphill battle with children. The toughest job we ever loved right? Hang in there from another mom who gets up at 4am. lol

Jenn, I have had this problem with my son also and what we did was put some items out on the table at night that he could have and nothing else unless he asked. It took a year but he will now ask for more before getting into things. I always kept poptarts in the house and fruit. So one piece of fruit and a poptart were left out for him. this worked for us. I hope this helps. Also when kids take meds at night sometimes they are ravinouse and craving sugars because there sugar has dropped durning the night.
Hope I am of some help.
