Starting Over
This is day one again.
I left this web site thinking I was permanently sober. I stayed sober for 8 months then when I was on vacation in April of this year out of the country, I told myself that I could drink wine with dinner.
It is now 4 months later and I am back to drinking straight liquor and drinking almost every night. I am so good at hiding it that no one in my family has approached me about my drinking.
So, here is a list of reasons why I need to get sober. It is not all the reasons, but enough to at least get me thinking about the consequences. The list is also not in order of importance. Just something to read over every day for a while until it starts to stick.
1. Eventually I will get a DUI which would be devastating since I work 40 miles from home.
2. My kids will or have found out that I am drinking again. One of my kids has a drinking problem and I am telling him to stop all alcohol but continuing to drink myself.
3. I have noticed a decline in my mental capacity particularly when it comes to memory.
4. I am putting weight back on that I had worked so hard to lose over the summer. My kids will notice that I am gaining weight again.
5. Drinking will ultimately lead to diabetes as I already have elevated triglycerides. Diabetes runs in my family, I will surely get it if I continue to drink.
That's enough for now. Today, September 17, 2013 will be my first step back on the road to recovery. I will keep a daily journal to stay on this path.
