Thankful
Happy Thanksgiving one and all!
I have a lot for which to be thankful. Last year on Thanksgiving, we were days away from going in for our first IVF procedures, not knowing what the future would hold, and scared to death. This year, we're celebrating our son's first holidays. Overwhelmed by our good fortunes.
I am also very thankful for all the good news that's been coming around here lately. Many of my friends (and some who aren't) on here have been finally getting their own happy news. I am thankful that circumstances, whether financial, medical, or situational, have finally worked out for so many of you to make your dreams come true!
I am thankful for all the ladies here, though, whether you have gotten good news or are still waiting for yours. You are some of the most positive, supportive, and kind hearted people I've ever known, and I've never even met any of you in person! You are testaments to the strength and dignity of the human spirit to face personal adversities and hardship and still have love and compassion for your fellow man (or woman, as the case may be!) I have learned so much from each of your journeys:
How to be gracious when having good news but faced with sad news from friends.
How to be strong when there seems to be no hope.
How to use my voice to speak up when I'm hurting instead of holding it in.
How to trust, when so many times life lets us down.
How to be part of a community, and how the collective can support an individual who is feeling weak. It's an incredible energy to tap into. We all get drained from time to time, but the ladies as a whole offer a bit of themselves to help us recharge and face the world.
That we are all bigger than IF, and that this one label does not define ourselves, our significant others, our relationships, or our worth.
I have been so so fortunate in many ways, but I know I wouldn't have been where I am if I hadn't come here. I am terrified of bad news, of doctors, of change. I don't think I'd have even had the courage to confront my husband about my fears and needs, to pursue treatments from my RE, or take the plunge into IVF, without the support and input from the people on this site. Without those things, I wouldn't have my son. So, in many ways, you have all contributed in changing my life profoundly.
Thank you. I can never repay this gift. I love you all.
