Had a bad few moments counting out my pills into my weekly pill minder for the coming week. There are just so very many pills to count out. I know that there are folk here that count out many more, but I am just so tired of the ritual of pulling out the pill bottles. Opening up all the little doors, four for each day of the week, and checking the dosage on each and counting them into the pockets. Then closing the little doors. At the same time keeping an eye on the amount of meds left in the pill bottles. I can only go back for refills withing a week or 10 days of running out for reasons of my pharmacy plan through the province. But I know when I fill the pill minder that there is one week in the minder and about one week left in the bottles. Still with months of 31 days I have it so that I can go back when I have those two weeks buffer.

But man I hate counting out those pills. I have to have it done before I do my breakfast because I need to take pills with my breakfast and I also should test my blood sugar before I have my breakfast.

But only a bad mood for this journal entry. I'll lift it afterwards because it isn't so bad in general.

I feel you on opening and closing the little doors! I like the way you describe the wonderful -said with a scarcastic tone- chore I also partake in. Thanks. Please have fun today.

I know what you mean. I do it too and it is a pain in the ass. i am also diabetic and I hate the finger stick..still hurts..I haven\'t tried it elswhere..then at night the insulin shot..in the tummy..OUCH! I hate diabetes. So Darrell you are not alone, honey! The little pills doors..hmm I like that. My doors are blue. I also have to carry a meter with me and go to the bathroom to check. I am what is considered a brittle diabetic. i can be hi and drop so fast..anyway..I\'ll be thinking of you...I know exactly how you feel because I feel the same..some days this all just gets too nerve wracking! But keep your chin up...and have a happy day in spite! Just think how fortunate we are in this day and age if we have to be diabetic..all the choices we have! yeah..yeah...yeah....I know...hey..could you send me one of those big, fluffy, cuddly, loving muppets? I\'d love one of my own, and I promise to take good care of him!..love ya my friend! ox

I am considering getting the pharmacy to package my meds in blister packs already sorted out. A couple of my meds will have to have a bit more accurate dosing instructions. Like I take my gabapentin one in the morning two at supper and one at bed and the easiest way for the Dr to write it was two during the day and two at night.

Anyhow, thanks CindiLou.

Hey Deb (Serenity) I am glad not to need the insulin. I am lucky I can use the lancet device at the lowest setting. You do have one of the recent ones right and a current meter? My Accu-Chek Aviva needs only a small dot of blood and both my Softclix lancet and my Accu-Chek Multiclix lancet devices rarely cause any pain. Of course I did get the meter free with purchase of the test strips... and for me the test strips are covered. I do have to pay for the lancets though.

But with the lancet device and pricking the side of the end of my finger there is very little pain. There are fewer pain recepters there than the actual tip and plenty of blood. I tried it on my forearm which the meter allows for. But it caused bruising. It also isn\'t as accurate as the fingertip. The blood reading is slower to change in the areas like the arm.

Hey Deb (dkpape) I was talking with Mom about the pills today. Of course after last night and all I talked with Mom and a friend too... Anyhow we talked about if there was anyway I could cut down on the meds and well, I do try to take the fewest I could get away with and still remain healthy. After all I might not die right away without my diabetic meds or my thyroid meds, right. But they sure are important, as are my anti-uric acid meds.

I do hope to be able to lose a bit more weight and maybe be able to cut back or stop taking the diabetic meds for a while again. I have been diet controlled before after losing weight.

Well I have 5 days until the next time I refill my pill minder. I think it is mid July that I get my next refill of meds from the pharmacy. Perhaps I might switch to the blister packs like Dad has. Though of course then I will have to go to the drug store every two weeks.
