Things I hate, post one: I hate when I finally reach out to open up to someone, which is rare, and the response is belittling. I need to vent and need it to be taken with seriousness and care. It is important to me or I wouldn't be needing to vent it. I hate when it is turned around to " you should be in my shoes, and the conversation is steered to a contest of whose problems are worse, rather than it being about me, just for that moment, that conversation. I hate trivial, offending responses like " just put your big girl panties on and deal with it" when I really just want someone to say "I understand and I'm sorry for your pain. Tell me about it." It seems everyone comes to me to vent because I listen, but I have no one who listens to me. I even had a doctor do this to me. I tried expressing the despair I felt and she brushed it off and literally said, without hearing me out, "I'm sure my problems have been far worse than anything in your life, and look at me with all I do. Just get over it and don't feel that way." Yesterday, I admitted to a friend I had feelings of suicide. This was very hard. Her response was that I should just stop wallowing in despair and get out more, then chided me on not asking how her own medical tests were going..... OH. WELL, gee. I'll just go somewhere and all will be fine in me. Thanks. I'm cured!!!!
