Today is my 22nd year of sobriety from alcohol. 22 years ago I was in the hospital, broken, alone and not knowing what my future would hold. I had lost almost everything, my family, job, possesions you name it I had none of it. In fact I fretted as to where I would go after I got discharged. I never imagined I would be sober this many years. I shared with my Addiction Recovery group on Sunday about my upcoming anniversary. A gasp went over the room. I am grateful for the 12-steps programs I attended and still attend. I couldn't do it alone. I had really good people lead me and taught me how to live "One day at a time" without having a drink.
