My mom passed away last Friday June 20th, 2014. She had a massive stroke Thursday and went pretty much directly into a coma. They said there was no pain. She was 92 years old. I miss her so much. Anyway, I've been writing some stories about her and here is one of them.
Mom, I gotta go pee. Mom, come get me, I gotta go pee.
So, Mom would get out of her nice warm bed, come to my room, take my hand and go to the bathroom with me. She would wait patiently until I was done then tuck me back into bed. Sleep tight. I love you. And I would go back to sleep feeling completely safe and completely loved.
Then one night it happened. Mom, come get me. I gotta go pee.
Deed, she’s not coming to get you. You need to go pee by yourself.
What? Wait. It’s too dark. There are monsters in the hall. I can’t Dad. I’m too scared. Mommy please. Please come get me.
I know those sounds coming from their bedroom were Mom crying, not giggling. I know she wanted to come get me as much as I wanted her to. Who was this mean old man sleeping with MY MOM and stopping her from getting to me.
MOMMMMMM. MOMMMMM. MOMMEEEE.
No Deed. She’s not coming.
You need to understand that I was probably 4 years old, and I was not the baby in the house. Jill (3 years) and Chuck (1 year) were there. Mom was probably pregnant with Deano. But I knew she loved me best. When they woke her up it was not good. But when I woke her up she was happy to see me. Of course it was like that. It couldn’t be any other way. She was MY MOM.
One more try. Crying. Mom. Mom I’m scared. Come get me please Mommy.
I know I heard her begging Dad to let her go to her darling DeeDee. But Dad was adamant. Dang dang dangity dang.
I finally got up and walked out into the hall carrying my dolly and hugging her really tightly. I didn’t see any monsters, but I knew they were there.
Mom. Mom I’m still scared.
DeeDee, it’s okay. I’m right here.
Well at least that mean Dad-man let her talk to me. I felt a little better.
Leave the door open, I’ll be right here.
Okay Mommy.
Somehow I turned on the light and went pee all by myself with the door open.
Can I come give you a hug?
Yes sweetie, you can come give me a hug.
Pshew. I went into her room and hugged her really hard. It was all right again. My mom loved me.
So I braved the monsters by myself back to my room and climbed in my bed all by myself still holding my dolly. I sniffled and cried myself back to sleep. But I was a big girl. A big brave girl. My mommy told me so.

Aww. What a sweet story! You had an amazing mom! Be grateful she went quickly. I hope I can go quickly like that too and not keep lingering the way my dad is.
