Who am I: All else aside that of being a husband, a father, a brother, a son, an uncle, a friend, a worker, a supervisor. If my marriage would end, who am I then, if I am no longer a husband? I am realizing how much of my identity is that of a husband and not as who I am, what do I like, what do I need, what do I want. How do I begin to figure this out? I have been with my wife for 22 years; 19 married, 3 dating. Before that, a son who felt responsible for his mother ever since my father passed away when I was 10 years old. I have been reading about detaching yourself for your spouse. To detach from someone so they can be their self and I can be myself. The only problem is, as much as I have grown over the last few years this still is a very difficult thing to do. Can I ever be truly happy, when I am just with myself? How can I detach? How do I find happiness own my own? For my marriage to succeed I must figure this out. My wife cannot be my world. Who am I? I am myself. I just have to figure out who that is.

You can be truly happy just by yourself, but I don\'t have the manual of how to do that either.. Best wishes *hugs*
