I had an interesting morning.
My husband and I have been planning on starting our family in early 2017, and I want to take this year to prepare for that. I want to lose the extra weight I have and eat a lot of healthy foods so that my body is ready for pregnancy. I'm planning on kicking this off on the first (of course) but I'm trying out some different things before that, like deciding what my normal meals are going to entail.
My first idea for a healthy breakfast was two pieces of toast spread with peanut butter. Which, on paper, should be a healthy breakfast with enough calories and healthy fat to keep me full for a while. It didn't work out that way. We went to a Toys R Us, and halfway through the store I started feeling faint and weak. I had a few mild dizzy spells, and my stomach was very upset. it was so bad that we had to stop, twice, for me to sit down in the aisles. I felt like I was going to black out or throw up.
Once we made it to the car and I'd been sitting for a while I felt better, but my husband had to go finish our shopping. By the time he came back out, I was feeling a lot better, but still not normal. He had a soda for me, thinking it would help my stomach. It did, quite a bit, actually, and then we got McDonalds. Not part of my healthy-eating plan, but I needed food and that was the closest place. I did get a kid's meal, though. I inhaled the fries, the go-gurt, and the cheeseburger, and felt so much better. In fact, I felt totally normal. Still feel that way.
I told my mom about the episode, and she suggested keeping a candy bar (in case it was low blood sugar) and some almonds in my purse for if I ever feel like that again. So I have a big handful of almonds and two Three Musketeers bars in my purse now. My husband was actually worried he'd have to take me to the hospital it was so bad.
So, new lesson: if I'm having a small breakfast, eat more often, and carry snacks with me. Hopefully that'll prevent another one of those.
