I put off getting my driver's license for ages. I'm going to be 24 this year and still don't have it. That, however, is hopefully going to change soon. I've had my permit for a while, and my dad has been having me drive most places. But the past few weeks, I've been getting stressed out, and making mistakes that freak him out.

So, this morning, I asked him to just not talk to me while I'm driving. He has a tendency to talk constantly, even while I'm driving, and I figured that maybe he was just giving me too much to think about.

Turns out, I was right. I drove better than I have for ages, and I didn't get stressed out about it at all. It was actually quite relaxing, and I enjoyed myself. I feel great about my test next week now, too.

It's really surprising how well I can do things when I can focus and not be overstimulated.

Usually, after work, I have to spend two hours at my aunt's house and wait for my dad to come pick me up. But I haven't had to the last week, because he's off. And I think, because I have that extra time at home to wind down, I feel better. My productivity at work increased. A lot. Yesterday in particular.

Which is strange, I think, because, realistically, I have as much relax time both places, and the same or a similar amount of stimulation. In fact, at my aunt's house, I'm required to do nothing, while when I get home early I have chores to do - lots of them, if I get home right after work as opposed to two hours later. The only explanation I can think of is that I live at home, so it's easier to relax. Or something. It's odd.

One of my goals for today is to make a list of things I like to do, in keeping with my last journal entry. Things that I like to do, not that others like to do that I'll tolerate for their sake.

Wish me luck!
