Feeling a little overstimulated at the moment.
Originally, I didn't want a bridal shower at all, because of the nature of them. I know that a lot of people give gifts to the bride like lingerie, that kind of thing, and it would have embarrassed me deeply to have that happen. But a very nice lady wanted to throw me one, and she made sure it was a no-gifts shower.
I thought it might be more stimulating than I really cared for, but I knew that several other ladies had been worried I wouldn't get one at all, and they really wanted to do it. A lot of the people I know are totally gung-ho on get-togethers, and I didn't want to take that away from them.
So I did it. I went, and it was fun. It really was. It was even more fun when my younger cousin and her new baby showed up to save me from the spotlight. I didn't realize, at first, that my dislike of being in front of people could easily be exacerbated by being an HSP. Maybe the reason I don't like being the center of attention, ever, is because it taxes my senses too much.
So when it was over, I really just wanted to sleep. It had been loud, and bright, and I was also required to make conversation. Which I'm not particularly good at. So, while it was a lot of fun, and the generous, wonderful ladies that came gifted me with money that I've set aside to spend on my honeymoon, I'm still very tired, and feel a little dazed.
So I've been in my room with the light off and no music on, recovering. But it's a mess, and I've read that clutter can be distracting and exhausting for an HSP. So now that I feel a little better, I'm going to (maybe) turn on some music and (definitely) clean up some. I also bought a jar of some lavender-scented shea butter to try when I start getting worked up. I've heard it's supposed to be soothing. It smells amazing, and I can't wait to use it.
