Trigger......to initiate or precipitate (a reaction, process, or chain of events) People who suffer from PTSD or have suffered through abuse, neglect, assault (verbal emotional, mental or physical). Can be triggered. A word, a phrase, a look, a sound, an expression, a color, a smell, a song a movie or even a thought can trigger someone who is feeling good, happy, joyful, relaxed, comforted, in control, even on top of the world. And that trigger can send that same person on a spiraling decent. Sometimes one person will unknowingly trigger another. No ill intent, no purposeful meaning, not even an agenda. But flood gates are opened and the person triggered then has to find their way back up and simply hope not to be triggered again. This happens to me often. A word, a phrase, a tone, a look. Coming from someone with no intentions and no agenda. Not knowing that they are triggering me. But the flood gates are opened and when this happens to me my world turns upside down. This is why I some times refer to the way I feel as being stuck on a roller coaster. Just about the time the ride slows down and I reach a level position and get ready to step out of the ride. Some one flips the trigger and there I go again................
