ok, its official...i need to get a life. a social life that is. seriously, i have made a good amount of friends since i've been here and i've yet to hang out with them except for after work once, our company party and my bday party...but i'm talking about calling people up when i have nothing else to do and hanging out. but no, instead i just sit at my apt by myself, watch tv, play on the computer, and eat. this needs to stop. its ridiculous because deep down i know that i dont hang out cuz i dont want to spend a lot of money and eat/drink too much. but what happens when i'm home alone can sometimes lead to me eating too much too (like tonight for example) and still not having fun.  i bought a bag of tortilla chips and ate the whole thing. it wasnt out of control like a binge, i was just bored and ate out of the bag even though i knew what would happen. i wouldnt be so mad about it except for the fact that it just reminds me of how anti-social i am. stop it! go out! go to someone's apt and just hang out! get some coffee (tea, i dont drink coffee)! anything except sit around here. yes, i have to get up at 630am tomorrow but i could still have hung out for a few hours. i could have seen a movie! granted, most of my friends are working tonight but i didnt even make an attempt to find out about the other ones.  so instead of coming home right now  after having had a fun time with a friend, i sit here with a full belly, a whole bunch of extra calories, typing on my computer and watching stupid tv....which i've been doing a lot today...and most days.  so i swear, this is it. when i have days off i cant spend the entire day alone (well, i need it every now and then, just not all the time). i dont have the excuse of being new and not knowing anyone anymore cuz that's not true. but one of my problems is that its been so long since i've just hung out with people for no apparent reason except that we're both not doing anything. usually i hang out with friends if we're going out at night or i'd hang out with my roommate when i had one. i need to learn how to be a normal, social person. now is the time. i have to work tomorrow but if i'm off on saturday, i am going to do something. anything with someone else. i'm ready for this change. i know it will help me greatly in so many aspects. i'll be happier, i'll be less tired (i really believe that), i might actually get more exercise because i wont be sitting on my ass for a majority of the day, i'll be less inclined to eat a whole bag of chips, i'll build friendships....basically i'll just enjoy life more. i know this isnt going to be easy but i want to be social and i think i'm ready. i dont know what i've been waiting for....no, actually i do. i've been waiting to lose those last 10 lbs before i did this but i cant wait anymore; i've been waiting too long and its really no reason to be anti-social. this might help me lose it even. so here i go on a mission to enjoy life more.  and on top of all this, i really need to start answering my phone when it rings. i have a habit of not feeling like talking and just letting it go to voicemail. there have also been times where i dont answer it cuz i know the person is gonna want to hang out and i avoid the call to think of a reason not to. well, no more. i've said this before but this time i mean it. if someone wants to call and talk to me for whatever reason, i should be grateful for that and talk to them.  in a nutshell, two things i will do: call my friends to hang out and answer the phone when people call me.

I know what you mean. I always think if i\'ve been invited to a social thing, if i don\'t feel like going, i always make myself go. I always enjoy myself when i get there, If someone has made an effort to organise an event or night out - I always go whatever. As if i keep turning things down or cancelling, the invites will stop coming eventually :0(. Looked back at your last few journals. Glad your visit to the Doctor\'s went well, i was wondering how you got on, so that\'s great news and a relief i bet. Well hope your day off goes well and you make some good fun plans for tomorrow. Take carexxx

I don\'t think that you are inherently anti-social. I mean, I don\'t think there is anything wrong with you. I think that while you were depressed and bingeing a lot you got used to keeping your own company and it\'s a hard habit to get out of. You are actually doing really well making friends in a new city. A lot of people wouldn\'t know anyone yet! Certainly not well enough to have a birthday with! I agree though that we tend to put our lives on hold until we reach some magical weight and we all really have to live life now!
