so i took a trip to walgreens today and was faced with the fact that, yes, the scary, binge-inducing holidays are coming. i came to this realization when i came across halloween candy all over the store. it was in the aisles, at the end of the aisles, and at the cashier counter. seriously, we all know where to find it if we want it so why do they feel the need to put it everywhere?!? i'm just so happy to be this far into my recovery that its not as tempting as it used to be but all those single-servings of delicious candy, chocolates filled with creamy goodness and whatever else those terrible people who invent these things come up with are so hard to say no to. dont worry, i didnt buy any, i'm just preparing myself for what's to come. first i have to avoid buying any of these things i've mentioned. even worse, is after halloween when all the leftovers go on sale...makes them so much more desireable cuz they're cheaper! then of course we start looking into the future at thanksgiving, christmas, and valentine's day but i'm not even going to go there right now. adding to my walgreens story, i saw those oreo cakester things on the shelf, which i have not seen in a store yet cuz i usually avoid those aisles, but between seeing them and seeing the commercials it makes me really want to try them. the thing is that i'm sure they're really good. how can they not be? oreos are friggin delicious, cake is awesome, put the two together and you cant go wrong. my problem is that i dont want to know how good it actually is cuz then i'll want to have it again. i like to be in the mindframe of you cant miss what you never had. so if i never have it i'll never be able to look at them and have memories of the good times we've had together. i just wish commercials didnt exist for junk food cuz seriously, if it werent for those things i wouldn't even know about half the new foods out there. but instead, they talk about how great they are so in turn, i want to try them. i just saw a dove chocolate commercial that literally said "an experience like no other". excuse me? you're trying to tell me that eating a piece of chocolate is going to be the best experience i've ever had??? if so, i'm going to live a very boring life...and trust me, any time ive ever eaten chocolate it hasnt been so memorable. i feel i have knowledge of enough goodies out there that there is no need to introduce more...dont get me wrong, i will but i need to be a little more picky about what i choose and packaged store bought crap is just unecessary. i'd rather try saving my new food experiences for home made things and expensive restaurants desserts, you know, things that i cant just go to any store and buy whenever i feel the need to indulge in sweets. everything is so much more enjoyable when you dont have it all the time.
