I really can not believe that it has been almost a month since the first time that I wrote in my journal. When I first had my tbi I used to write, or scribble, in a journal every day! I am really amazed at how i can look back and track my own recovery! I have learned to laugh at my memory problem now, but there are times when it is just not funny or maybe it is because i just am not in the mood! I am trying to work on my resume because I was just accepted into a program, DVR (Department of Vocational Rehibilatation), that is supposed to help my try and find employment. I used to live in California and I was involved with several programs that was supposed to help you do that and it was VERY depressing! I mean jeeze, i can land those volunteer jobs, that's for sure! well we will see what happens. I will try and not get my hopes up, but it seems like Washington works harder in the direction on Disabled and their rights than California did. All I can do is try and we will see. My family cant firgure out why I would want to mess up my guarenteed income from Social Security. Thats confidence for you, they think that I will not be able to handle it and even if i do at first will it last for a long time maybe even forever? what do you think? Julie

You know in your heart what you want to do and how it will make you feel. Big hugs and smiles. It is always worth trying for a goal or dream. Edison tried over 3000 filaments to try and find one that would light a light bulb. Most of us try something once or twice and fail at it and quit. My first couple of hundred paintings after my accident looked like mud... but gradually I am coming out of the mud hole and I am seeing colors and shapes ... And I am painting despite the hazy sight and blindness in the right corners of the eyes...
I think you have to show that you can work to support yourself before you are taken off social security. There are also work programs that allow you to keep you social security and work a limited number of hours. Best wishes,
