Random Thoughts

So, tonight I had my first meeting for my term as Worthy Matron in Eastern Star.  I think it went well, even though some of my officers were missing... hopefully the next meeting they will all be there.  As a teenager and a part of Rainbow, I did something similar, but it is certainly different being in charge of the Chapter now.  I also have to deal with the drama that adults bring which can be very stressful.  However, I do enjoy what I am doing and am glad to be able to do it.
I recently talked to someone about applying for a manager job at work, but was told that because any leadership experience that I have is volunteer related, it wouldn't be a good plan.  I am wondering how to take the experience that I have and make it applicable to work.  Having spent so many years as an administrative assistant.... how do I transition to a supervisory role?  I won't be able to progress to anything more than just an assistant without being able to utilize my leadership experience from my volunteer activities.
