So much has happened since my last post.  Got to try to keep this going a little better so there aren't so many gaps.First - the good news!  Our son Dave has been on his R&R Leave from Iraq for 2 weeks.  He will be heading back by end of week.   Hubby's cyst is now completely healed.  He still has a little pain from the surgery to remove it, but no more infection! Now for Mom.  She has been in Rehab since Jan 28th.  At first it looked good and we were planning to send her to a different facility for Assisted Living.  But, today is her 20th day there and we can see that she is probably not going to achieve Assisted Living level.  That is really sad.    She has fallen at least once since her admission and sounds like another TIA.  She couldn't get back up and even her cane couldn't reach the call button for the nurse.  Her roommate woke up and activated her button and they came to get Mom up and into bed.  I have seen a change in her mental status since then.  She is really confusing dates and events more than before.  Dave & I had gone to visit her on Thursday and we had to really work at getting her to eat even a little.  She has exchanged her favorite comment of "I don't know why the Lord is leaving me here." to now saying "I want to go home to be with God." She has lost additional weight and is telling us that she does not want to fight to get her strength back.  Then she repeats the previous phrase again.   Probably will go over briefly today to share a little birthday cake with her.  It is our son's 40th, so it is pretty much up to him.  If not today, then tomorrow.  Our responsibilities have changed now.  We no longer are in charge of her day to day care and all those responsibilities, but have to be there to hold her hand and hug her to where ever this one takes us.
