Thank you everyone for the support.  I really appreciate the prayers and love that I find here when I sign in.Finally I have a minute to update this journal.  Like so many before me, I find it helps me keep my focus on things.Mom's trip to the hospital was almost a week long.  There were many days that we didn't think she was going to make it.  Her breathing was so "strangled" that she both had difficulty talking and need oxygen for support.  In addition, she was having so much trouble that she didn't think she was getting the oxygen.  Probably the most difficult part for us was not being able to visit as we would have normally done.  But she kept trying to carry on a conversation and then couldn't breath.  So, we just called her and talked for a couple minutes, told her we love her and would hang up.  Then we would call the nursing staff to see what changes, if any had occured.  Final outcome was that they took off 7 lbs of water weight.  But she seems to have lost an additional 10 lbs besides.  Don't actually know how they could tell the difference, but her average weight has been between 138 - 143.  When she was weighed last Monday, she totaled 126.  That was a real big change!In addition to all this, we had a dispute between 3 hospitalists.  One said she could go home to be by herself.  (This is the same man who gives us trouble every time she is in his care!)  Two other doctors said that they would not discharge her unless1) Medicaid could step in and give her care at home or 2) She had to be discharged to Assisted Living. Wouldn't you think that the majority would win?  Not in this case!!!  The problem doctor came back on duty on Monday and was gonna release Mom back to her home with no assistance because she was tired of the hospital and wanted out.  He didn't even go into her room, only to the door from which he said "Are you ready to go home?"Gotta run for now, will finish this later.
