Today was an annual physical for d/h.  That meant lunch at the local VA cafeteria.  It so saddens me to see some of the older vets and many of the younger ones.  Across from us in the cafeteria there was an older one who could hardly hold his utensils to eat because he shook so much.  It took him one hand to hold the spoon and the other one held the hand headed toward his mouth.  He really was managing his technique quite nicely.  It is just so sad to see.  Then there are the younger ones who have returned home, in tact for the most part.  But watching their pain from the physical injuries as they work toward recovery.  I wish we were closer than 1 1/2 hrs away so that I could spend some time volunteering there.More good news about d/h.  They have finally determined that it is not pain from a sinus infection that runs from his jaw upward through his eye and into his head.  Although it is difficult to diagnose, they have determined that he has trigeminal neuralgia and are getting him medicated accordingly.  Also, he finally owned up to his acid reflux and has accepted the necessary medication to get that also under control.  All this should help make life a little easier for him. Then a talk w/ my nice and her daughter.  There is just so much going on there too.  Both wanted to know more about Mom's health.  I explained that we are trying to rationalize with her about the need to move into a facility prior to her going blind.  Although it saddens them too, they are in total agreement. It seems like no matter who I speak with these days there are problems.  I know that this is part of life and have come to the realization that I need to just listen and not try to take the world on my shoulders.  We will all get through it and learn from all the lessons that are coming our way.
