Gosh! It has been almost 3 weeks since my last entry.  It is hard to believe all that has happened.  During this time we have fired 2 agencies, a sitter and are working on terminating the services of a lawyer.  Mom has been in complete agreement with most of it, but the lawyer has really got her convinced that he is just great.  Today we sat down with her (as we have been doing for some time now) and told her the facts.  Can you believe this lawyer actually has the nerve to tell her what the balance is in a very private account and what her other assets are!!??  Mom is now seeing the light & truth in this and she is getting scared.  Today she wrote a letter to tell him she is "firing" him.  Almost like closing the doors after the horses get out.  Now he has talked to her enough to know what he can manipulate to his advantage against her, us & the rest of the family. Also, we have discovered that the sitter we fired was right in the middle of all this.  She actually manipulated us all by telling Mom things we didn't say and telling us that Mom was "really losing it" mentally.  There are things missing in the house, but nothing we can actually prove she took.  Sure do wish we could prove it!!!!It will take us at least another week to finalize all this stuff. Then we will be looking for a different agency to provide us with a part time sitter.  Have checked into several and am looking for one who first has actual employees, not referrals and second, one who requires good enough references that their employees are bondable.  Our heads are actually spinning with all of this. There is so much I want to say and don't dare because of potential legal complications. I am soooo frustrated that people can actually take such advantage of senior citizens.  While I am venting about that one, these people actually take advantage of the entire family of each elderly person they rob.  Maybe some of them don't actually steal, but they rob them all of dignity, trust, self-confidence and health by way of the stress they cause.  I know everyone here understands what I am saying and I'm certain that most will also agree.  I pray that God takes control of this and through His wisdom teaches these types of people that honesty isn't just about keeping one's hands in their pockets, but also about keeping control of their mouths and minds and staying out of the family business of those who have been kind enough to hire them and trust them.

It sounds like you are on top of things. That can be so frustrating! I understand having to watch everything. I find it\'s a lot like juggling Jell-o. I aways wonder if I\'m overlooking something that is staring me in the face.

I am so grateful for your journal entries...they provide much needed lessons on what to look out for. I\'m so sorry all this is happening for you, but, at the same time, am glad you\'re writing (what you can) about it. This is important information. I shudder to think how widespread this kind of fraud is!
Thank you again!
