21 months

21 months ago my life as I knew it was obliterated. My husband was killed in a car accident. I am now a single parent raising 3 kids 16, 13 an almost 10.  It is unreal to me that this is my life.

I see the world so differently now.  So much of this grief journey is just like everyone says it is.  However, what is so profound to me is how impossible it is to appreciate the awfulness of what people have gone through until you have gone through it yourself.  Loss and grief are truly only understood when it happens to you.  We can feel horrible when we learn of situations when someone loses a loved one.  We can feel terrible about bad things that happen to good people.  But you don't truly get it until it happens to you.  It is just like the Lady Gaga song. It is desperately hard to listen to that song, but it true.

I've often thought about various things I've done to try to let someone grieving know that I am thinking about them.  Maybe I wrote a note, sent a text, or dropped off some food.  It is almost laughable to me now because we all know nothing really helps.

Hi there sorry for you loss, yes it is unreal I'm only 6 months into this nightmare losing my wife and daughter 4 months apart, I'm on auto pilot still don't really won't to be here anymore always go to bed and pray I don't wake up, I know it will upset my other 2 daughters but there have there own lives to lead instead of worrying about me, it's just so lonely all the time, and the meds keep me calm all the time really hate this life now.
