Hello from DailyStrength!

We're glad to have you as a member, and we wanted to keep you in the loop on recent updates and changes, as well as point out a few of the fascinating people, stories and discussions happening across the DailyStrength network.

We'll send out these infrequent updates whenever we think there's something happening on the site that we'd like you to know about. If you don't want to receive them, simply remove "TeamDS" as a friend from your profile.

Help us build your support network - invite friends and family that could use some support about DailyStrength!

DAILYSTRENGTH MEMBER STORIES

Rach:
http://www.dailystrength.org/users/Rach

We wanted to start with a story that's become very important to many of you. Over the last two months, many of you have read about and provided support to Rach, a beautiful 19-year-old girl who is fighting osteosarcoma (bone cancer). The last few weeks have been very trying for Rach and her family, and we ask all of you to pray for them and offer them whatever support and encouragement you can.

Susan39:

Susan39 is one of our newest members...and she's just been diagnosed with Celiac Disease. She's asked DailyStrength folks for advice, and you've delivered. Thank you, thank you!

DJH:

Doug (DJH) is one of DailyStrength's co-founders. He's trying to lose 15 pounds in time for his November birthday. A lifetime dieter, he's trying the "DailyStrength diet", using the support of his DailyStrength friends to help him achieve his goal.

UPDATES

We'd like you all to meet DailyStrength's advisors, who are also active members of our community. Our experienced board of advisors includes:

- Dr. Jeremy Shapiro, a pediatrician specializing in public health, obesity and AIDS
- Dr. Sharon Orrange, an associate professor and doctor of internal medicine
- Cyndi Sarnoff-Ross, MFT, a licensed psychotherapist with vast experience with a wide variety of mental health disorders

Our board of medical advisors participate regularly in our community discussions and help to ensure a high quality of content on our site. Stop by and say hi to them!

Read more about them here:

NEW FEATURES

We are working hard, and I mean really hard, to deliver tons of new features to you. In the coming weeks, you'll see a totally new home page, a complete overhaul of message boards and recommendations, easier ways to invite friends, a brand-new treatments section and much more.

PLEASE let us know if there's anything you'd like to see on our site; we read it all and we truly value customer feedback.

WHAT'S A FRIEND?

Lastly, we wanted to talk about what "friending" someone means on DailyStrength, as we've received many questions about what when it's appropriate to "friend" someone.

When you friend someone, their picture appears on your profile in your My Friends section and you get an email whenever they update their journal. Friends do not get access to any of your personal information. What's more important, however, is that you're saying to this person that you like them, you support them, and you want to be kept aware of how that person is doing. Friending is nice. So do it! ;)

FINAL THOUGHT

"By all these lovely tokens, September days are here,
With summer's best of weather, And autumn's best of cheer."
- Helen Hunt Jackson, September, 1830-1885

We hope your fall season brings happiness.
