1/17/2008Ah winter, Cold weather has moved in with a vengeance. As a result I have had to find my scarf again. I went out without it today and the frigid air hit my airway and lungs like a knife. Asthma has a way of reminding a fellow not to forget to cover his face. Oh well, my scarf was quickly found and my lesson learned. Mother Nature doesn't tolerate forgetfulness.I received final notification from my insurance company that they won't cover the cost of Lidocaine to be taken with my nebulizer. The FDA has yet to approve nebulized Lidocaine for asthma treatment so my insurance company won't pay. However,it does seem as if my asthma guru is on the ball about new forms of treatment. I saw on the net that inhaled lidocaine is very helpful in controlling severe asthma attacks when used in conjunction with albuterol, according to several studies. At $461.29 a month I'll never know.Actually aside from having to hit the nebulizer for albuterol following my adventure without a scarf, things are going pretty well. I just grow tired..literally..of all the coughing. Not much else going on,Be well,Tom
