7/12/2007I thought that when I retired that time would be irrelative. Ha! Little did I know. I was up today at 5:30 am. I then made the rounds in the house making sure my wife gets up for her chaplain internship at the hospital, my son for work and my daughter for class. It seems that the only person who hears an alarm is me. they are definitely not morning people. Ah, pity the poor timekeeper(me)... lots of grumpy attitudes today. (Hey, it's not my fault that it's time to get up. Now hurry up, I want to go back to bed!... Hey,..you'd better not throw that!) It's a good thing that their aim is off when their eyes are half closed. After the surly mob departed I did go back to bed for a while so I guess there are some perks to retirement. to tell the truth I was a bit tired today so I didn't do much beyond my reveille duties. I did run a few errands but that was about it. I was feeling guilty. I felt as if I had napped a goodly portion of the day away until I saw the cat in the same corner she had been in since morning.  She heard me moving about..opened one eye..looked dismissively at me ...and settled back in. I could almost hear her say "Amateur!" I never thought anything with a pulse could sleep like that!...except maybe teenagers. At any rate, it was a nice, lazy summer day. I guess I had better sign off. I'll need to get the gang up and out the door again tomorrow.Be well, tom

Boy! Are you right about teenagers and sleep! I spend a lot of time napping. I have too many pains to actually sleep long. Wouldn\'t it be nice to sleep like cats?

Tom,
Glad your feeling ok. Being a carrier of Alpha-1, and making it to age 59 with very few problems, is great. Again, my son is a carrier, and we have spent alot of time at St. Louis University, with doctors. I think you & my son are pretty lucky... I only wish more people would get the kind of results. This is one nasty disease ! We have learned alot about it, since the passing of my husband back in 1992.
If you ever need info... on being a carrier, we have alot of advise that we can give. Feel free to call upon us at any time. We are just south of Festus, Mo.
