6/24/2007Out of extreme curiosity (desperation?) I checked the side effects of some of the medications that I take regularly. I have been experiencing chest pain and occasional heart palpitations while at work. I have severe asthma, high blood pressure and diet controlled diabetes. this recent development of chest pain had me checking my meds for side effects. It turns out albuterol could be the cause of my chest pain and heart palpitations while on duty. It lists palpitations and chest pain as possible side effects. As with everything, stress and exertion exacerbate the symptoms. I then checked out heart palpitations and it said that if changes in lifestyle are ineffective in controlling them, then it can be treated with beta blockers. Of course, beta blockers also have a downside. One of the listed side effects is worsening asthma symptoms!!! Now isn't that great!! ...Pick your poison!!I am realllllly hoping that my retirement will reduce my need for albuterol and thus will also reduce the cardiac problems. If not, it's back for more testing. (Captain to crew ...batten down the hatches, we're in for a bumpy ride!!)Only 4 more days! I can do this!! Be well,tomp.s. Of course my chest pain could be something else but it does seem as if albuterol and stress are the culprits.tom

I wondered about you chest pain and your ribs aching. It\'s just me but I have no such side effects and I use albuterol several times a day. I hope this isn\'t something new to add to your list of ailments. I wish you well.
