6/19/2007It's another hot day here in the St.Louis area. Heat like this reminds me of a story from the late, great Casey Stengel, a long time baseball manager of the yankees.  In 1966 St.louis had just built the old Busch Stadium. As a reward, the town had been chosen to host the annual Baseball All Star Game in honor of the new Stadium. Now midsummer in St.Lous can be brutally hot and this was no exception. Ignoring the scorching temperature, however, sports reporters from across the country were on the scene, interviewing the stars and celebrities. During an afternoon work out, one scribe sauntered up to old Casey and asked how he liked the new Busch Stadium. Casey thought for a second, mopped his brow, looked around and said "It sure holds the heat well." I think about Casey's comment on days like today. I would expand it to include the entire region. Our metro area surely does "hold the heat well".As for me, I'm looking to "Happy Days" for inspiration. I'm staying inside and imitating the Fonz. I'm just trying to be cool.Ayyyyyy !!tom

I was never a fan of baseball. I am a fan of warm weather, though I wish it would rain enough to keep the grass from dying. It\'s gotten up in the eighties here but the old house stays cool. I\'m from Arizona, now that\'s hot. Of course, the humidity makes it worse. It\'s good weather to be house bound.
